Scientific Classification

Capsicum baccatum

Heat rating in Scovilles:

The Brazilian Starfish is a uniquely shaped pepper. This tall plant has a vine like habit and produces good yields of 1 – 2 inch wide starfish-shaped peppers that ripen to a brilliant red at maturity. The white flowers of this plant are also very attractive with the very distinctive greenish-yellow markings. Slow to yield, but by the end of the season, amazingly prolific.

CULINARY USES: These crispy, crunchy and fruity peppers perfect for pickling or just eating raw in salad.  The star-shaped fruits can have variable heat, sometimes exceeding that of jalapeños, but most are juicy and more often sweet.
